Loblaw Companies Limited (Loblaw), Canada’s largest retailer, awarded Ice River Springs Corporate Social Responsibility supplier of the year for 2015. The award was given at a gala in Toronto in April and was accepted on behalf of the Ice River team by Sandy Gott, Executive Vice President and James Dickson, Director of Sales.
Every year Beverage World magazine picks packaging design innovations that “rewrite what is normally expected for their brand.”
Ice River Springs won in 2014 for the new 4 gallon green PET container. As the magazine describes, “Ice River Springs Water Co. is finding a great use for all those used green PET bottles.” They turn them into 4 gallon bottles that fit on water coolers. “The Ice River Team developed unique processing methods through numerous trials in order to reach the crystal-clear recycled bottle that is a first in the market.”
We are proud to once again be recognized for our environmental innovations. We are the only beverage company in North America that sorts and processes PET packaging into food-grade plastic to make 100% recycled bottles. We found there was plenty of demand for clear recycled PET but the green plastic was often finding its way into landfill. We created the brand Ice River Green so we can divert plastic from going into landfill and also deliver extraordinary value to families who are looking for healthy on-the-go hydration and avoid the calories of traditional soft drinks.
Ice River Springs has grown into one of North America’s largest producers of bottled water with 12 plants across Canada and the United States, including one in Hanover Township in Lehigh County. Here’s an interesting article by Peter Hall of The Morning Call, that talks about our expansion plans to double capacity at the Allentown, PA location while at the same time maintaining our steadfast commitment to reducing our impact on the environment.Plant manager Joe Peters stands next to pallets of water bottles ready to ship at Ice River Springs Water Co., in Hanover Township, Lehigh County.
